You never know when something could occur and you need to be prepared to avoid potential danger. Keeping an emergency car kit handy could really save you in a time of need.
You should always keep a container that is filled with food items that are non-perishable. Bottled water could be very helpful when stranded as well as things like crackers or granola bars. It does not take much to throw a few items into a small cooler or snack bag and keep it in your trunk where it is out of direct light. Try to choose foods that are high in energy and protein in order to keep your strength up if you become stranded. Though you hope it never happens, surviving a few hours may be necessary until help can get to you.
If you live in an area that has harsh winters or gets incredibly cold or stormy, you should always carry a blanket in your vehicle. A blanket can make all of the difference between staying alive or becoming compromised if your vehicle breaks down in bad weather. You should also have some flares in case you need to flag down help. Hand warmers like the ones that hunters sometimes carry are also very great to have. They can be found at most department stores or hunting shops.
Every car on the road should have a First Aid Kit inside. If an accident were to occur that resulted in injury, there are many things inside that can help to maintain and treat wounds until paramedics arrive. It is always better to be safe than sorry. First Aid Kits don’t take much to throw together. They can save lives so get one for your car.
Multi-purpose tools are very helpful in certain situations. There are many types of tools that you can get that come with many different tools all in one. A Swiss Army knife is another great multi-purpose tool that can get you out of a jam. It certainly never hurts to keep one in the trunk with your First Aid Kit.
A roadside emergency kit could really help if you get stuck in the snow. You should have a shovel as well as kitty litter which can help you regain traction if you pour it around and behind the tires. There are also traction pads that can be purchased for this as well. When it comes to staying safe in the car, there is a lot more to it than just careful driving. Keep an emergency kit in your car because it truly can give you an advantage in a time of need or during a true emergency.
